How corrections appear
A correction note is attached to the relevant story, names the inaccurate point, supplies the corrected information and includes a timestamp. Headline or legal-status changes are also recorded in the update history.
Updates versus corrections
A developing story may change as authorities release new facts. An update adds confirmed information; a correction fixes information that was wrong. We label the difference.
Submitting a correction
Begin through the newsroom contact route. Identify the Crime Current story URL, the exact statement at issue, the requested change and the primary documentation that supports it. Do not send sensitive records until the trust desk provides a secure follow-up channel.
Retractions
When the central premise of a report cannot be supported, the newsroom may retract the article. A public notice explains the decision when legally and ethically appropriate, while the internal audit log preserves the publishing history.
