Robert Scott Froberg pleaded guilty to kidnapping resulting in death. His agreed life sentence remains subject to the federal court’s acceptance at the scheduled November 2, 2026 sentencing.

A man has pleaded guilty in the nearly 30-year-old kidnapping and murder of 7-year-old Morgan Violi, resolving one of Bowling Green’s longest-running cold cases.

According to federal prosecutors, Robert Scott Froberg abducted Morgan from the Colony Apartments on July 24, 1996, drove her into Tennessee and strangled her. Morgan’s body was found near White House, Tennessee, three months later.

Investigators requested new laboratory testing as DNA technology advanced. Prosecutors said that work produced the breakthrough that ultimately led to Froberg’s arrest, confession and guilty plea. Froberg admitted one count of kidnapping resulting in death and agreed to a life sentence, which remains subject to court approval.
