San Diego cold-case detectives have made an arrest in the 1999 killing of Diane Ayres in Balboa Park.

Police say investigators reexamined forensic evidence collected after Ayres was found dead near Golf Course Drive. The medical examiner determined she died by strangulation.

Christopher Creek, 52, was arrested in Georgia on a San Diego homicide warrant and extradited for arraignment. An arrest does not establish guilt.
