Rodney Bennett pleaded guilty and was sentenced to nine years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.

A D.C. man has been sentenced to nine years in prison for two robberies and an assault with a dangerous weapon while confined, according to federal prosecutors.

The government said Rodney Bennett robbed a man returning a rental scooter near 5th and Neal Place NE on August 28, 2024, then robbed another person in an underground garage on 8th Street NW just over an hour later. Prosecutors said GPS-monitor data placed Bennett at both scenes.

Bennett was arrested in October 2024. Prosecutors said he later stabbed another confined person during a November 2025 dispute. He pleaded guilty in March and received a nine-year prison term followed by five years of supervised release.
