Charges and indictments are allegations. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

A man charged in a West Adams homicide has been taken into custody in Mexico, and his five-year-old daughter was found safe, LAPD announced.

Police found an adult woman dead during a May 25 welfare check on South Alsace Avenue. Investigators later identified her husband, Ruben Fregoso, as the murder suspect and said he had left the country with the child.

LAPD said Mexican authorities located both. The child was placed with officials pending her return to family, while extradition proceedings for Fregoso were expected to begin.
