D.C. homicide detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old boy inside a Northeast Washington home, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers responded to the 1600 block of Rosedale Street NE on the evening of July 11 and found the juvenile on a sidewalk with a gunshot wound. Investigators later determined the shooting occurred inside a residence on the block.

MPD identified the victim as Ahmad Mims. The department's July 12 release did not announce an arrest and asked anyone with information to contact police.
